I am told that we are getting tons more snow this year than last year, which is awesome for snow sports. Not so for getting out of our driveway and driving to Jackson. There was enough snow in the driveway last night that we thought better of parking the Subaru in the driveway. So, we parked it next door, where they seem to use more mechanical methods of snow removal. So far, we had only shoveled by hand. I got the notion that this was a little abnormal when a co-worker dropped me off and said "Has your driveway NOT been plowed?" in disbelief.
This morning, we could tell it had snowed quite considerably. In fact, in between parking next door last night and walking the dogs to the post office two minutes later, quite a bit of snow accumulated. So, as we did our morning routine and heard that The Pass was closed, we figured we needed to start shoveling. Phil pretty quickly decided we needed assistance, and we promptly hired a guy plowing around the corner. He was over in a jiffy and started plowing the entrance to the driveway with a mini bulldozer. We figured we better move the Jeep, and we soon got it stuck trying to get it out of the way. Funny thing is, the dozer quickly got stuck too. The boys pushed the Jeep on out, but the dozer was a bit more tricky.
Another plower across the street was soon enlisted to free the dozer with his big truck and blade. They hooked up a chain and freed the dozer, but broke the chain. Our plower kept working, but got stuck again. Back came the truck and they got him out. But, after asking if a patch of snow was "just grass," the plower hit something and broke his hydraulic line. Marvelous. He left quickly. Driveway remains half plowed, half disaster. Meanwhile, The Pass had opened. So, I made it to work just in time for lunch.
Suffice it to say, the pile of snow in and around our driveway is quite considerable! At least the weekend is now here and there is lots of fresh powder! Cool!
